Introduction...
In a mad spree of 'signings' we added more
riders to our portfolio in 2007; so here we present Ben Izzard. Ben is a
snowboard instructor and regular at Tamworth snowdome. He's very much part of
the scene of the countries first indoor snow dome and has a mad passion for
snowboarding. Barely a week goes past without a new mail from Ben checking how
things are going or let us know that he has a new video of his riding at Tammy
or as he calls it 'The Shed'. Snowboarding should all be about fun and
enthusiasm and Ben has it in bundles!
For the 2008 season Ben has landed him self a
Board sponsorship deal with Sined
Snowboards to compliment the streetwear sponsorship he has with us.
Interesting fact: If you take the initials of
Bens name it spells out 'Bi', I wonder if his mates have ribbed him about that?
No doubt they will as soon as they read this!

So who, how, what got you started with snowboarding? My dad when
I was 16...
What's your current board setup? Salomon DB 155.5 /
Salomon SPX pros / 32 lashed
And what stance/angles do you ride with? Reggy / + 21 -12
What do you most love about snowboarding? Chilling with mates and learning
new things every time I'm riding... Oh and of course filming.
Have you been in many competitions? Just the local
Tamworth ones... (huh, 'just' he says! I've seen the standard of
riding up there; it's pretty damn hot!)
Are you more of a freestyler or freerider? Freestyler but i can ride any
part of the mountain

Where have you most recently been riding? Tamworth. AKA ' shed '
What are your plans for next year? Season or go away as much as possible
whilst doing comps.
What's your favourite:
* Trick? Backside 5 on the pipe.
* Resort? Powder Mtn, Utah.
* Saying? I have a few but don't want to come across as a chav... =]
* Snowboarding memory? First trip away with school to Utah. (Your
school took you to Utah - you lucky f***er, we had to make do with
Wales!)
* Drink? Vodka Redbull.

Had any particularly bad slams? Nothing to cry about... I've been lucky a
few times.
How do you think your riding has progressed over the last couple of years?
more style and control.
Is there anything you don't like about snowboarding? No! Love it all!
What advice would you give to someone who's thinking about taking up riding?
Once you've started you will get the bug, then just progress as much as possible as the scene has
a lot of cool people to make friends with.
What interests other than snowboarding do you have? Music, cars, and playing the guitar.
What music are you into? Mainly rock, but I'm not a stranger to the
'gangsta' music. |
What are your aims for the future? Do more competitions and keep the level
of progression up.
