Links :... Links to some of the aspects of board lifestyle which the Board 4 Life crew have come into contact with and which you might want to look into as well. All the below have been included because they, like us, seem to share a love of what snowboarding is really about. SCUK... (www.snowboardclub.co.uk)
RIP TheBoarder, for out of the ashes of that legendary website has arisen SCUK (Snowboard Club UK). The potential here is great (at the time of writing it's only been running a week), created by Dunx (former The Boarder editor), Stu Brass and Spencer Claridge we now have a national snowboard club. Have a look at the site and see what the ever growing benefits of the £30 membership price are. Pleisure Holidays... (www.pleisure.co.uk)
2004 saw our first visit to Courchevel. It was such a great trip that we've been back several times since. Go with them and as we'll as a great resort (not as expensive as you may fear) you'll also have good food, riders to guide you and most likely get to sample some crazy sweet flavoured vodka in their bar at 1550. Have a look at their website, then get in contact with Pete who'll sort you out a good deal. If mountain boarding's your thing they also have the chalets open in the summer for such shennanigans. Snow Info... (www.snowinfo.co.uk)
In 2008 we hooked up with Snowinfo to provide them with a number of our t-shirt designs rebranded under the Snowinfo name. So if we are out of stock of a t-shirt design you want browse on over to their website. The Swowinfo website has a host of other snowboard and ski info to (as the name suggests!) so it's worth taking a look.
Adrenalin Trip... (www.adrenalintrip.net)
Adrenalin trip hosts the joint site snowboard forum (which you can access from out Forum page). If you've not visited then you should do and if you're not a member then you should be! It also hosts a large number of other forums (too many to mention), which include other 'extreme' activities like mountainbiking and dirtbiking. All hail to Ade for creating this excellent site. WhiteLines... (www.whitelines.com)
The UK is blessed with a number of quality board mags. The original was Snowboard UK, the most recent is the highly popular Document Snowboard. Neither of these currently have a website however. But the equally good Whitelines does and this is it! It's published just down the road from where all the Board 4 Life crew grew up so we thought we'd give them a mention. In the Spring issue 2005 (60) we were also featured in the 'homegrown' article, nice one! RTM Snowboarding...
If you're in the 3 Valleys then hook up with these guys for some first class British tuition. Two hours freestyle saw us redefine how we ride down the mountain. Honestly you'd be a fool not too. As they're so damn good they get booked up quickly mind! SS20...
Our local snowboard shop, SS20 are based in Oxford and have been going for donkeys years. They've sorted us out with plenty of our board gear and always had good advice. Now their online site has had a makeover we thought we'd add them to our links.
Powderroom...
Girl snowboarders have their own little haven on the internet in the form of powderroom.net. None of us are girls, but that hasn't stopped us finding the site of use. So whichever gender you are have a wander over and see what you think. Goneboarding...
Us snowboarders are lucky people. Not only do we have a great sport/hobby/lifestyle (call it what you want). But we now have a multitude of online forums to chat to other riders! As well as a forum Goneboarding also has reviews of resorts and gear by its users.
Nollie...
Another site for girls. Nollie covers all kind of 'extreme' sports from Skateboarding to Parkour (as well as, of course; snowboarding). So if sliding the hill isn't the only thing that floats your boat take a ganders
PisteHors... (www.pistehors.com)
No your eyes don't deceive you , that's a skier in the logo. But that matters not a jot, not when you get down to serious freeriding and that's what this site is all about. If you go off-piste (that's Piste d'hors in French) and are going to France check this site out. In fact even if your not going to France it still has a wealth of information for serious freeriders, such as info on transceivers and heli-boarding. Ski Injury... (www.ski-injury.com) Ok if you've recovered from the shock of seeing Ski in the title let me give you the lowdown here. Dr Mike Langran set up this site in 1999 it doesn't just deal with ski injuries - it has the most accurate and reliable advice on snowboard injuries thta the UK can provide. So if you've been injured or are worried about being injured take a look. Infact tkae a look whatever - the guys doing this of his own back for the love of snowsports for godssake! (the snowboarders page is here ) Kommunity... (www.kommunity.com)
Snowboard tuition for all level of riders. Correct your style and move to that next level under the tuition of 5 times former British champion Neil McNab. Nearly all the Board 4 Life crew have been to the McNab chalet in Chamonix and have become better riders for it. Also run the now almost infamous Kommunity summer camp where you can improve those freestyle skills under the tuition of some of Britains finest pro riders. High Rock Chalet... (www.highrockchalet.co.uk) Formerly known as the Riders Retreat (I preferred that name to be honest) the High Rock Chalet is co run by Ash (formerly of DCMT Snowboard mag) and the excellent host Kim. The chalet is in Serre Chevalier, France. Members of Board 4 Life visited in December 2005 and it gets our seal of approval. Ash is the epitome of snowboarding and you may also have the chance to ride with great British boarders like Bud Gallimore and Lucy Passmore.
Henrys Avalanche Talks... (www.henrysavalanchetalk.com)
One of our main reasons for visiting Val D'Isere in '04 was to go along to these free talks. If you find yourself in either Tignes or Val D'Isere you'd be an idiot not to go along - they're free! If you not planning to be in the Espace Killy anytime soon then have a look at the website anyhow, it provides potentially lifesaving information. Big Fridge Productions... (www.bigfridgeproductions.co.uk)
The big fridge in question here is Tamworth snowdome. On this site you'll find pictures and videos from a whole host of events that have gone down there. Keeping it UK.
Karibuni... (www.karibuni.co.uk)
Karibuni provide an assortment of adrenalin holidays; snowboarding being just one of them. In 2006 we teamed up with them for the Metro Ski & Snowboard show by providing a prize for a lucky winner who visited their stall. Ravenscraig Guest House... (www.aviemoreonlinek.com)
It is possible to go boarding outside on snow in the UK and Scotland is your best bet. Granted snowboarding in Scotland can be a hit and miss affair but that hasn't stopped us heading up there from Oxfordshire a couple of times. In Easter 2006 we stayed at Ravenscraig in Aviemore and if you're aiming on heading up there we are happy to recommend it as a place to stay.
Face Plant... (www.face-plant.co.uk) Are we going over the top with the number of snowboard forums we list? Well maybe - but this is a new one (as of autumn 05) and more than just a forum news and reviews are present too. The site owner are positively bubbling over with enthusiasm and so we thought it should have a link. Remember that feeling after you first nailed turns? That's how these guys feel about boarding, so why not pop on over. Crazy Ninja... (www.crazyninja.com)
Crazy Ninja has been going for a while a one man entrepreneurial whirlwind for UK snowboarding. Activities have included gigs, the Crazy Ninja brand of low priced boards and bindings and briefly as shop. If you're starting out on the road to boarding you could do much worse than checking out the website.
Boarder Zone... (www.supreme-snowboarding.tk)
A fan site for my favourite PC snowboarding game; Supreme Snowboarding. It's a few years old now but still well worth getting, available for a fiver or less these days! High and Dry... (www.highanddrychatham.co.uk)
We sponsored our first event in August 2004; the event being High and Dry. A longstanding grass-roots dryslope event we saw some mental riding from our stall. All credit due to Alex Spence for his enthusiastic and excellent organistaion.
Jib Jam (Mushroom Party)... (www.jibjam.co.uk)
When young ripper, Jake Terry decided he wanted a freestyle session rather than a 7th birthday party his dad Steve promptly set about organising this charity event (proceeds from the day go to The Back-Up Trust; a national charity supporting people paralysed through spinal cord injury). We're proud to be one of the many sponsors who have responded to Steve Terrys call. It's on 2 July at Wycombe summit, so if you're in the area go check it out!
