Hometown: Rainham, Kent

Introduction...

Introducing you to our youngest ripper at the time of speaking, Matt is 15 and signed up with us for 2008. Hailing from Kent he's a local to Chatham dryslope (which we visited a while back for one of the High N Dry events). He impressed us with his enthusiasm and determination to advance himself so is now on the team. Lets see what he has to say shall we...

So who, how, what got you started with snowboarding?

I went on a ski holiday when I was 9, I began skiing but my uncle was snowboarding and it looked fun so it all started there.

What's your current board set-up?

True courage 149, Burton freestyle Bindings and Salamon Maori boots

How did you get to hear about Board 4 Life? Through sponsorship of a local competition

And what stance/angles do you ride with? +15 - 15

What do you most love about snowboarding? Riding with friends and landing new tricks.

Have you been in many competitions? I’ve entered 7, mostly ones at my local slope. I’ve won a few spot prizes but I recently got 2nd in the British Snowtour dry slope Slopestyle and 3rd in the Snowboard cross and big air events in my age group.

Are you more of a freestyler or freerider?

What are your plans for this year?

Progress my riding and continue to get better

What's your favourite:

 :: Trick? 270 on to 270 off on boxes

 :: Resort? Tahoe

 :: Saying? I’ve got too many

 :: Snowboarding memory? When I landed my

first 360

 :: Drink? Red Bull

Had any particularly bad slams? I’ve been lucky (touch wood) the worst I’ve had is when my face met dendex for the first time :D

How do you think your riding has progressed over the last couple of years? I’ve become more confident and all my tricks have improved.

Is there anything you don't like about snowboarding? No

What advice would you give to someone who's thinking about taking up riding? Don’t quit if it gets hard

What are your aims for the future? Keep on progressing and hopefully become a snowboard instructor

Any shout outs?

Everyone at Chatham, including Alex, Chris and Mark for helping me progress and land new tricks. Also to Sam and Martin who I have ridden with a lot since I started.

Thanks to my family for first introducing me to snowboarding.
